User Profile Embed Settings

Use the User Profile page in Archivist’s /settings command to control which details appear in Archive of Our Own (AO3) user profile embeds in your Discord server. You need the Discord Manage Server permission to change these settings.

On the User Profile page, choose Fields or Inactivity to open that section’s form. Update the options, then select Submit to save your changes or Cancel to close the form without submitting. Select Reset User Profile to defaults to restore the User Profile settings.

Choose which details appear in the AO3 user profile embed. Uncheck a field to hide it:

  • Pseuds: The user’s alternate AO3 names.
  • Joined: When the user joined AO3.
  • Location: The location listed on the user’s profile, if provided.
  • Birthday: The birthday listed on the user’s profile, if provided.
  • Works: A link to the user’s works and the number of works.
  • Series: A link to the user’s series and the number of series.
  • Collections: A link to the user’s collections and the number of collections.
  • Bookmarks: A link to the user’s bookmarks and the number of bookmarks.
  • Gifts: A link to works gifted to the user and the number of gifts.
  • Bio: The user’s AO3 profile bio. Long bios are split across pages.

You can set the maximum length of the Bio from 1 to 20,000 characters. Text over the limit is shortened with an ellipsis (...). The default limit is 6,000 characters. The Bio length setting is part of the Fields form, but is not shown in the screenshot.

When a user profile embed has no clicks for five minutes, it becomes inactive.

  • Reset to page 1 after inactivity: Return the profile embed to its first page after five minutes without clicks. This option is enabled by default.
