General Settings

Use the General page in Archivist’s /settings command to control link behavior and decide which Archive of Our Own (AO3) works can be posted in your Discord server. You need the Discord Manage Server permission to change these settings.

On the General page, choose Preferences, Ratings, or Restrictions to open a form for that section. Change the options you want, then select Submit to save them or Cancel to close the form without submitting. Use Reset General to defaults to restore the General page settings.

Preferences control how Archivist responds to links and where it posts AO3 status alerts.

  • Delete original message with link: After Archivist posts its embed, delete the user’s entire message. This also removes any other text in that message.
  • Use the original Archivist-style embed: Show all enabled work details in one embed instead of separating them into Stats, Tags, and Summary tabs.
  • Post AO3 outage alerts: Post a message when AO3’s status changes, and post again when service recovers. Select an Outage alert channel to choose where alerts appear. You must enable this option for the channel setting to be used.
  • Ignore character: Set a character that server members can put before an AO3 link to prevent Archivist from making an embed. The default character is %. For example:

Choose which AO3 ratings are allowed in the server. All ratings are enabled by default. Uncheck a rating to block links to works with that rating:

  • Not Rated
  • General Audiences
  • Teen And Up Audiences
  • Mature
  • Explicit

Choose which AO3 Archive Warnings are allowed. All warnings are enabled by default. Uncheck a warning to block works marked with it:

  • Graphic Depictions Of Violence
  • Major Character Death
  • No Archive Warnings Apply
  • Rape/Non-Con
  • Underage Sex
  • Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings

You can also add Blocked Additional Tags. Enter tags separated by commas. Archivist blocks a work if it has a matching tag. For example, entering Character Death, Non-Con blocks works that have either matching tag.
